3rd International Manga Awards


Applications are now being accepted for the 3rd International Manga Awards. Please visit the official website (http://www.manga-award.jp/) to download entry forms and application details. Completed applications from UK residents can also be posted/delivered by hand to: 3rd International Manga Awards, JICC, Embassy of Japan, 101-104 Piccadilly, London W1J 7JT Applications should arrive by Friday, 30th January 2009. Guidelines for Application

1. Purpose
To promote MANGA overseas.

2. Conditions of Entry
(1) The MANGA works (4 or more pages) must be produced in countries outside Japan. Both published and unpublished works are eligible for entry. However, works which received the First or Second International MANGA Award are not eligible this time.
(2) The works must be submitted in printed form.
(3) Overseas publishing companies are permitted to apply for the Third InternationalMANGA Award only if they confirm that their MANGA artists consent to theirworks being submitted.

3. How to Apply
(1) Application Period1 December 2008 – 31 January 2009 (entries must arrive by 31 January)(2) Applications should be sent to either i) or ii) below.i) P.O.Box 118The Third International MANGA Award Executive Committee,Tokyo Toranomon Building 1F, Toranomon 1-1-18, Minato-ku, Tokyo 105-0001ii) Japanese Embassies or Consulates General (See the website for the address.)
(3) Two copies of the works must be submitted. (Additional copies may be requested for works which win the award.)
(4) Please ensure the entry form, filled in either in English or Japanese, is attached to the works.

4. Return of Works
The submitted works will not be returned to applicants. Therefore, if works have not yet been published, the original should be retained by the artist. We reserve the right to donate submitted works to public organisations.

5. Selection
The Third International MANGA Award Evaluation Committee is in charge of the selection procedure.

6. Prize
(1) The Gold Award of the Third International MANGA Award will be given to thebest MANGA and approximately three works of merit will receive the SilverAward.
(2) Winners will be invited to Japan for around 10 days for the award ceremony.

7. Award Ceremony
The award ceremony will be held in Tokyo in autumn 2009.
