ONGAKU night @Cafeoto on 12th October 2010 presents: A sensational alchemical mix = Japan's no.1 performing sculptor, jino the rotator vs established London musicians includes; Leon Michener (Piano), Taigen Kawabe (Bass guitar plus), & Hiroto Amamiya (Drum plus) also there will be installation art work tribute to Ujino by jughwa Lee, goldsmith graduated 2010.

Ujino http://the-rotators.com/ is an unique artist that difficult to categolise in a banal manner, probabaly a sculptor. His work has been appericiated in the world. His exhibition was held in Hayward gallery, South Bank last year in London. His performance resembles to a work of a minimai DJ.

Leon Michener http://www.leonmichener.com/ is an excellent pianist & has been active as in the field of an exprimental comtemporay music for all his life. An extremely innovative performer. A recent success includes a solo concert in White chapel gallery. A series of his experimental gigs were held in Kings Place, also is scheduled for near future.

Taigen Kawabe http://www.myspace.com/taigenkawabe is now becoming famous as a leader & singer of pychedelic rock band, boningen but he is oroginally trained as a bass guitarist since very young and he'd like to re-define as a bass gutarlist in this occasion.

Hiroto Amamiya http://www.myspace.com/screamingteaparty is a drummer in an indie label band Screaming Tea Party. Hiroto also makes his own music and his solo music website is undercounstruction. A very confident promising young musician.

The Mayor’s Thames Festival: All Eyes On Korea

The Mayor’s Thames Festival is London’s largest free outdoor arts festival- a spectacular celebration of London and its river. Among the many events of the Thames Festival, All Eyes on Korea introduces various performers from the Korean arts as well an introduction to the delights of Korean cuisine.

Leading talents from a wide range of Korean arts and culture have been selected and include extreme dance comedy from Break Out- an energetic extravaganza, returning to London after a global tour which has taken in the London’s West End, the Edinburgh Fringe (2007 Box Office No.1), Laos, India, Malaysia, China, Bangkok, Singapore and a 3-month Broadway run.

Korean fusion group Baramgot perform contemporary music pieces on traditional instruments to create their own unique sound. The group’s musical identity is based on Asian concepts of ‘sound’, ‘performance’ and ‘music’ which are different from those in the West. Moreover, the performance and composition are not separated, but naturally connected.

Korean Pop-Jazz group Winterplay will be performing two concerts over the two days. Winterplay have become a huge sensation on the Korean pop scene for their modern jazz sound. They have been ranked no. 1 in every online jazz chart and stayed in Top 10 for 40 weeks. Winterplay’s latest album will be released in Europe in the autumn having climbed the charts in both Korea and Japan earlier this year. We hope that you will enjoy the wonderful sounds of Winterplay as much as we enjoy having them here.

The Korean stage programme also features a series of Taekwondo demonstrations- a firm festival favourite, these world-class fighters from the Seoul City Taekwondo Association demonstrate their incredible skills, impressive flying kicks and the smashing of roof tiles.
All Eyes on Korea is a family event and also includes a whole host of activities for children of all ages. Korean break-dancers and the Taekwondo demonstration team will be holding free workshops immediately after their respective stage performances. There will be a photo-shoot with popular animation characters, including Pucca and Pororo the Little Penguin, and various board games provided by the Korea Creative Content Agency. For those feeling hungry there is also a selection of Korean dishes from some of London’s leading Korean restaurants.
Meanwhile, there will be family events for children at the Korean Cultural Centre UK (KCC) during the Thames Festival. Events will include showing animation, storytelling for children, board games, children’s craft workshop, having a taste Korean thanks giving food and so on.
