How does one begin to understand the enigma that is Japan?
Four Japan specialists will talk on the theme of travel to celebrate Eland's new book, Japan Through Writer's Eyes, and endeavour to shed some light on this fascinating country, drawing on their own experiences and the writing of selected authors, both historical and contemporary.
The four specialists will be Elizabeth Ingrams, editor of the aforementioned book, Lesley Downer, author, Timon Screech, Professor of History of Art at the School of Oriental and Asian Studies, and Joanna Hunter, freelance journalist.
